The BurGREENdy Committee is dedicated to providing volunteers to support environmental activities and aims to make Burgundy Crescent Volunteers a more sustainable organization.

BurGREENdy was a BCV initiative launched in 2008 by the BCV Board. In 2010, the BurGREENdyCommittee was officially formed, attracting both long-time BCV members and "greener" local folks who are all united in their passion to cultivate more sustainable practices and activities in BCV and DC at large.

BurGREENdy volunteers support a range of environmental activities in the DC area. For example, BurGREENdy volunteers help protect and restore the Anacostia River during the Anacostia Watershed Society's Annual Earth Day Cleanup & Celebration.

The National Park Service also provides numerous BurGREENdy volunteering opportunities with recycling at the National Cherry Blossom Festival and pruning the historic National Cherry Trees around the Tidal Basin later in the year.

In 2008, BurGREENdy volunteers also played a critical role in initiating recycling practices at the Capital Pride Festival.  This year many BurGREENdy volunteers are lending a hand in further expanding Capital Pride’s sustainable practices by serving on the Capital Pride Green Subcommittee.

BurGREENdy is currently exploring more volunteer opportunities by partnering with local organizations and initiatives.

Do you have a volunteer opportunity or social that would make a great BurGREENdy event? If you're interested in joining these efforts, or have a suggestion for a BurGREENdy event, please contact chair Adam Dahl,
